One of Michael King Sr. and Alberta Williams King’s child was Martin Luther King Jr on January 15, 1929. His usual name was Michael King Jr. He had an older sister, Willie Christine, and a younger brother, Alfred Daniel Williams King. They grew up in a secure and loving environment. Their father fought against racial prejudice because he considered racism and segregation to be an insult to God’s will. Martin Jr. grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he entered public school at the age of five. He was baptized in May 1936. The death of his grandmother, Jennie, was painful to Martin Jr. when he was twelve years old because he was out watching a parade against his parent’s wishes when she died. Martin Jr. entered Booker T. Washington High School, he skipped ninth and eleventh grades and at 1944, he entered Morehouse College in Atlanta at age 15. In this school, he was a popular student with his female classmates. But he was not a motivated student who floated through his first two years. Martin became a clergyman of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama in 1954. He completed his Ph.D. and was awarded his degree in 1955 when he was only 25 years old. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr. was met when Parks was arrested because she didn’t give up her seat in the bus to a white person.
