Born in Germany on the 10th November 1483, Martin Luther was an Augustinian friar who made a great impact on christianity when he started the Protestant Reformation in 16th century europe.
Luther was originally setting out to become a lawyer to please his father. Also, because of his efforts to receive a Master of Arts degree while studying at the University of Erfurt. He was certain to become a lawyer. But one day, a monstrous storm changed his life ambition. Luther was caught in the middle of this horrendous storm and was terrified of losing his life. So he prayed to the saint of miners, St Anne that if she saved him, he would become a monk. As he said this, the storm calmed and because of this, he then devoted his life to becoming a monk. His father did not approve, but he was determined to keep his promise he made to St Anne and become a monk.
At first, Luther didn’t find the religion very enlightening. But a mentor then told him to mainly concentrate on christ in his journey because it would help him when he is further into his journey of enlightenment. Soon after, he returned to Germany and enrolled in the University of Wittenberg, was outstanding in his studies

This would be called the 95 Theses. The reason this was created was because of the new round of indulgences to help build St Peter's Basilica. Which made Luther furious because the idea of it was to exploit people’s money by saying that if people gave money, the less time you would be suffering in sin. Once seeing this occur in the church, Luther began the Protestant Reformation. To attempt to stop this exploitation of people’s money.
