I have enjoyed reading your post, Johanna. I think that you have stated the position of Martin Luther very well. I could not have explained it better. I agree with you, Luther wanted to find his way to salvation. He could not comprehend the idea of buying salvation with indulgences. Moreover, the money given for indulgences was not put to good use. Therefore, that defeats the purpose of indulgences. Moreover, his radical ideas meant that the price of paradise cannot be paid with money because that price is way beyond any humans reach. He believed that only our faith and the mercy of god can lead us to salvation. I do agree with him. I think that we should not confuse charity with indulgence.
