Many and varied are the interpretations dealing with the teachings and the life of Jesus of Nazareth. But few of these interpretations deal with what the teachings and the life of Jesus have to say to those who stand, at a moment in human history, with their backs against the wall (Thurman, 1949). Jesus was a Jew, meaning he was born visually, culturally, religiously, and ethnically different. Most of world history is man subjugating or discriminating based on appearance (Chapter 1 of “Jesus & The Disinherited”:
The Roman government in the first century A.D saw several horrific and inhumane rulers who killed and tortured people. It is easy for one to look at horrible rulers and think of every way possible to defy the government. But, Paul tells his reader in Romans 13 that man is supposed to be subject to the governing authorities. Paul says that a ruler is “God’s servant to do you good.” Why is Paul saying that we should be subject to the government even if the government is corrupt and against God?
In this week's reading of The Whole Message of the Bible in 16 Words by Chris Bruno, we were assigned to read the first two sections, the foundation and the frame. In the first section of his book, Bruno talks about the foundation of the Bible in two key words: The End and God. In the second section, he talks about the frame: creation, covenant, and kingdom. The first section of the book, Bruno focuses on the foundation on which the entire Bible is built: The End and God.
In chapters one and two of Timothy Keller 's book "Every Good Endeavor” the main theme is work. While some people think work is demeaning and boring, they miss the fact that God has put us on this earth simply to work. Keller shows this through his recalling of Genesis in that as soon as Adam is placed on this earth he is given the task of working the garden. Culture has pushed people to believe that "work is a necessary evil.” Society also leads us to believe there are two classes of workers, the ones that fit in the "knowledge classes” which are where the wealthy reside and the "service sector” in which the middle to poor classes reside.

Freedom of poverty and individual rights ultimately what Mexican-American cultures strive to obtain in earlier times, according to Viramontes. Although this contains accuracy to an extent, today’s Hispanic American culture fight against stereotypes and hidden oppression of full individual rights. Remedification of potential and hard work is dismissed in this novel, due to Mexican-American’s job status and minimal education. This oppression often leaves Mexican-Americans to keep living in this lifestyle, obvlious to keep working and hopefully achieve grounds to move out of poverty. In the novel, Under the Feet of Jesus, Helena Maria Viramontes emphasizes the physical labor Estrella and her family go through, and how this work reshapes their
Not being productive can also lead to your environment being dilapidated. In "A One-Horse Town", the townspeople are slothful and their town “hasn’t ever been painted,”(pg 117) and it is run-down. It is also not fair to other people if you are slothful and expect someone else to do the work for you. If you were in a situation where you had a group project and someone didn’t

The Conception of Jesus Foretold Mary, a young virgin, was living in Galilee of Nazareth and was engaged to be married to Joseph, a Jewish carpenter. An angel visited her and explained to her that she would conceive a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. She would carry and give birth to this child and she would name him Jesus. At first, Mary was afraid and troubled by the angel's words.
The book in the Bible called Ecclesiastes is written by Solomon and explores his thoughts on his way of finding the purpose of life. Solomon believes that life is pointless and has no meaning. However, we as Christians are called to the purpose that God has given us. There are many verses in Ecclesiastes that show the meaning of life, and I will explore three of them.
By constantly being active a person can accomplish many tasks and possibly goals. Being industrious and productive leads to performing well in life. Life has a time limit and therefore one should not waste it by being idle or unproductive. Time is a constant, but personal productivity is not. One of Jefferson’s virtues describes being industrious in which he further explains that no time should be lost, a person should be well employed, and all unnecessary actions should be cut off.

Acting as the team leader during my clinical shift was both enjoyable and overwhelming all at the same time. With this being my last semester of nursing school, I have grown into my role and responsibilities as a student nurse caring for a single patient. Being given the opportunity to act as team leader for a day was an incredibly different experience. I did not have any patients of my own. Instead, I had to get prepped on all the patients of my class mates.
For centuries, Shakespeare’s compositions have fascinated audiences and academics alike. King Lear, one of Shakespeare’s most established tragedies, details King Lear’s catastrophic downfall from the throne of Britain. Based on an earlier work by Geoffrey of Monmouth, Shakespeare adapts “Leir of Britain” from Historia Regum Britanniae as the groundwork for King Lear. Although Shakespeare’s theatrical production remains undoubtedly comparable to its source, significant differences between the two works result in distinct outcomes. Shakespeare, in comparison to Monmouth, opts to develop Lear to a greater extent.
