This is only but one… Seventeen-year-old Serena Alverson is drawn to water. She spends much of her time by the falls, sketching the beauty of life’s sustenance. An introverted “late-bloomer," she has no interest in a social life aside from her two best friends, Logan and Nikki. She’s never had a serious boyfriend and has rarely left the safety of Havenwood Falls. Serena has big dreams for her future, things
Chase followed in the footsteps of Shay and became a nicer person. Crash was very intimidating, but was influenced by Shay and showed much more kindness to people. Third, a character named Calloway who was extremely racist. Calloway didn't want to be with
The fantasy is about Buttercup, a milkmaid, and Westley, a farm boy, who fall in love and have to face many obstacles. The story mainly develops the themes of true love and revenge. However, in the book, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, the story develops the theme of revenge and true love in more depth compared to the movie. First of all, the book provides a detailed past of each main character which makes the reader sympathize with them. For example, in the book, the author has dedicated four to five pages to understand Inigo’s and Fezzik’s past.
For example, in the beginning, the seemingly utopian relationship between Gene and Phineas showed how they are both good characters at heart. There was little to no conflict between the two, and there were no unfriendly feelings between them. However, as the story progresses, the reader sees how this relationship falls into decline, as Gene goes from being amiable to unstable and paranoid, while Finny is unfalteringly friendly. For example, as Gene and Phineas are getting ready to sleep at the beach, Phineas says to Gene, "You are [my best pal]." (41) Gene thinks about returning the compliment, but he does not.
In all of these stories, their flaws were their undoing. It is not just these characters that have flaws; the whole human race does. Everyone has their own flaws, and that will never change. It can, however, be reduced. If there is one lesson that all humans can learn from these characters, it is to let go of what is bothering them.
The cruelty and inhumanity they received, caused the characters to be desensitized. They lost their morals, especially within their families, and they
I think the more he connected the readers to his characters, it made his story more of a reality. It was if I could put myself in their positions because I was similar to them. When the characters would react crazy or insane like Dave Jensen did in the chapter Enemies, he felt he couldn’t trust anyone, but he had to make things right. He drove himself crazy because he felt he would be attacked from his team and the real enemies. I believe that would probably happen to most people and we can all have a breaking point even O’Brien had his own.
Wilson shows that even those characters that seem lost in life and are taken advantage are the most wise. Those characters shouldn’t be seen different because they are the most influential characters since they know more than what they look like they
The Selection is the chance of a lifetime for the 35 girls as it’s their chance to escape their given life and to expose themselves with priceless jewels, gowns and compete for the heart of the young gorgeous Prince – Prince Maxon. The book is written by an American writer of young-adult fiction, Kiera Cass. The book is an interesting one because not only it catches many attention but also the main character, America, and I have a lot of common as we both live a simple life and tend to prefer living it as how it is till the end. The Selection is a romance novel and the first book in The Selection Series, followed by The Elite, then The One.
The play the “Fences” by August Wilson is a play about an African American Family experiencing the difficulties of life in a time where the world sees them differently. This story paints a portrait of angry denial and forlorn futures, the decrepit nature of the older characters and the demanding younger generation's lack of ambition paints a striking mural of love, loss, agony and failure. In this play the main character brings on much heartache and grief to his family. Troy Maxon was the major cause of all the conflict within the lives of his family. He is a father who has strong opinions and expresses his way or the highway with his children which in turn hinders his children by not letting them make their own choices in life.
Overall, he is a well-rounded character because he has deep conflicts, things he wants
Although, I did fall in love with all of the characters and their individual
The selection is a contest to win the prince over and became his wife and every girl dreams of it, at least most girls. This book mainly features a girl named America Singer. America and her family are fives which make
I felt the side characters were just a bit underwhelming, but were still interesting which was enough for me. I just wished we had more of say Adam, Edith, and Iren but I expect we’ll get to know them more in the next book so I’m excited. Tarrou was an interesting character and his sacrifice was so tragic and I really felt bad for the guy.
But because of his bad character traits the story dragged on longer than it needed to when he could've just been
