Sidoonie smith and Julia Watson rhetorical situation, is that “people tell stories of their lives through the cultural scripts available to them”. Another situation is the fact people have a discursive practice of how they control the stories they tell about themselves. For this reason Sidoonie smith and Julia Watson explain to the audience how individuals use the concept of agency to tell stories about themselves and ways to do it. Sidoonie smith and Julia Watson use varies contexts of autobiography that is better interpreted and understood.
From the listening, the professor explains that emotional appeals are to manipulate or control our emotion. And he also says that advertisers use different techniques to persuade us to buy. I agree with the message of this clip, which is to be cautious when looking for love and be certain that a deep and meaningful connection is present prior to engaging in intercourse with another. I think this is important because we live in a world that is over sexualized and as a result teaches our youth the wrong messages and leaves women feeling that they must seduce a man in order to entice and keep a man. In my opinion, Pastor Paul quoted two of the most profound statements which was King Solomon 's quote "Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires" this was a crucial message because it was directed at women who throughout history have had a tendency to seek love and in many cases try to force love when it is non-existent. Too many women today confuse intercourse with love and they end up with their hearts broken because they believed that a physical relationship would heighten their emotional

Before delving into Azari’s conclusions on mandate rhetoric, her methodology is interesting. She analyzes a dataset of news conferences, television and radio addresses, minor addresses made during travel and at meetings of groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, messages to Congress, and various remarks and memoranda addressed to members of the executive branch, totaling 1,467 communications from 1933 to 2009. The important thing to note is that she confines her dataset to the first 70 days of each term of a president. She argues this controls for “exogenous events and facilitates comparison across presidential administrations.” The problem with this small size is that it limits the dataset to roughly 5 percent of a single presidential term.

Something which was and was not Weston was talking.” Satan manifests himself through Weston, and Ransom notices. From this point on Weston is not referred to by his human name alone, but by Un-man.

Emma Marris uses many types of persuasive elements in her essay “Emma Marris: In Defense of Everglade Pythons”. In her writing she persuades her readers that the pythons should be allowed to be in the everglades since it is not their fault that they are there in the first place. She uses metaphors to relate to the reader and word choice to enhance her writing.
In Equiano's personal slave narrative, "The Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African", Equiano flips the idea that the African people are backwards and barbaric, thus ripe for slavery, by demonstrating his personal exceptionalism through his literacy to show that it is truly the white people who are backwards and barbaric through their own hypocrisy. This reversal that Equiano demonstrates in his slave narrative shows that the savagery of African people exists as a misconception and makes the reader fully grasp the need to abolish slavery and any inequality present. On page seventy-eight, Equiano uses first person pronouns like 'I', 'my', and 'me' to separate himself from the other African people and whites around him. This separation that Equiano creates demonstrates his exceptionalism as an African slave.
“Hector Garcia: We train soldiers for war. Let's train them to come home, too” Hector Garcia’s approach to the rhetorical analysis is very organized when he speaks about PTSD. He started his speech by introducing a former military soldier whom had suffered with PTSD, since he came home from war. The story is he started off with an approach to two different ideas of controlling a situation when the patient would have flashbacks of the war.

Past leaders such as Andrew Jackson, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Marc Antony are evidence that society does not reward morality and good character in leadership. Society is drawn to leaders that have good rhetoric, propaganda, and charismatic personalities, and society supports them despite their immorality. Society is concerned about stability more than the morality of their leaders and will support immoral leaders in times of crisis to provide stability. In history there have been multiple leaders that have used rhetoric, propaganda and charismatic personalities to gain power, despite their morals.
The United States is made up of some of the most diverse and interesting cultures in the world. Jamila Lyiscott proves this by showing her different dialects and how they are all equally important. Lyiscott believes that the way she speaks towards her parents, towards her friends, and towards her colleagues are all one in the same. Throughout the entirety of her speech, Lyiscott changes up her vocal patterns and dialects so that the audience can understand first hand what each of these dialects are. When she talks about her father, Lyiscott uses her native tongue, when she talks to her fellow neighbors and close friends she switches it up to a more urbanized dialect, and when she is in school she masks the other two dialects with a professional sounding language.
