Movie Assignment: Mean Girls I have chosen the movie “Mean Girls” for my movie assignment. Throughout this movie, there are lots of actions that show the rules of feminism. Cady was known as “Africa Girl” who was homeschooled up until high school. She was nerdy and had no friends. Cady started to skip class to make friends and fit in. Cady started to portray herself as going through the “sociological theory”: in and out of groups. Cady was constantly wanting to fit in with the other girls, Cady on her first day tried sitting at multiple tables to try and find friends and be with everyone. Cady’s parents showcase authoritative parenting, having control over Cady’s life but also warmth toward her as well. They had set rules for Cady and were strict on consequences when knowing the actions that were being made. Started to ground her, and made her fix the mistakes and apologize to everyone she hurt in the process of trying to fit into her new school. Throughout the ages of all the main characters they had a lot of growing up to do and they all realized, “Judging others won’t make them better than others”. Overall, this was a great movie to use for this assignment. The “Mean Girls” thoroughly analyzed social development. From Regina George’s physical and emotional dominance to Cady’s cognitive growth navigating high school, and the rollercoaster of emotions shown throughout the movie within everyone’s friendships and betrayals, this movie shows how high school complexities can get the best of clicks. This movie showed me how I relate back to when I was in high school to how everyone’s brains work, bodies, and how everyone gets worked up trying to fit into the world of high
