Measuring From The Combustion Of Chips

512 Words3 Pages

In this experiment the purpose is to capture as much energy as possible from the chip by using a calorimeter. The goal of this experiment is to modify the calorimeter and to improve the energy capture from the combustion of the chips.
Kinetic, Potential, and Law of Conservation energies are all used in our everyday life. Energy is neither created nor destroyed, though it can be transformed, which is the Law of Conservation of Energy (Castro). Kinetic Energy can be calculated by E = ½mv2 (Lucas). There are different types of potential energies too. “Gravitational potential energy is the energy stored in an object as the result of its vertical position or height (Potential….).” Elastic potential energy can be stored in a pulled back bow or even a stretched rubber band (Potential…). Electromagnetic radiation spreads across gamma rays all the way to radio waves (ScienceAtNASA). It interacts with matter when color is seen in objects by electromagnetic waves interacting with their molecules (ScienceAtNASA). Electromagnetic radiation is; sunlight, microwave, gamma rays, radio waves and X-rays …show more content…

To change the temperature of something depends on how much mass the object has (IsaacsTEACH). The calorimetry equation is Qcalorimeter = m•C•ΔT and is used to find the energy in a substance (Calorimeters). Enthalpy is the internal energy of the system plus the product of the pressure of the gas (Enthalpy). “Three factors can affect the enthalpy of reaction: the concentrations of the reactants and the products, the temperature of the system, and the partial pressures of the gases involved (if any)
