Intermediate sanctions is a courts response to the overcrowding prisons in the United States. These sanctions are a step up from probation and a set down from incarceration. With these sanctions, rehabilitation is the primary goal, which is used to reform offenders who return to society. There are several types of intermediate sanctions such as house arrest where the offender confined to their home, which they can not leave unless there is school, job, or court. Fines can be several dollars or several thousands of dollars.

Physical and mechanical restraint can be similarly defined to be “Any device or individual that confines or restricts movement,” whereas chemical restraint is defined to be “Any drug that is used… to either control behavior or to restrict the patient’s freedom of movement that is not typically administered… as being prescribed for a medical treatment or psychiatric condition” (Fryer 27). Clearly, there is a stark difference between the physical and mechanical restraint uses as compared to the chemical, for many would consider injecting an adolescent with a medication that they are not prescribed for as being unlawful. Multitasking is a key any leader must learn because a thousand things must be done. With the ever changing environment of technology making its way into the military one must be tech savvy in order to use every asset available to him.
The different types of locking mechanisms used are as follows: Panic bars- These are also known as push bars are specifically designed keeping general public in mind who might not be familiar with a building and might panic in case of a fire or other hazardous event and have to evacuate the building immediately. These bars have a very easy to operate mechanism as only a minimal pressure is enough to release the locking mechanism.
