The Media’s view The United States is the land of the free or so we think. Many people around the world come down to the United States for many reasons. It is the land of opportunity and the start of a new beginning, for some, but now people are leaving the states in fear because of the new policies and orders that are being pushed out. U.S citizens are not as affected by these policies as immigrants are, but have impacted the way we view and treat, not only immigrants, but others that my look like an “immigrant”. Propaganda that surrounds us is manipulating society to believe and give these people negative attributes. This is because of the media. Some have associated the word with ‘fence hoppers’ and are let to believe that they are criminals. Some also use the word ‘alien’. Using these words have an effect on these people. Some believe that it is ok to use words to describe other people but it is not okay. People who use these words set themselves higher than the other. They make the other feel lower or less than a human. Whenever a segment comes on the news, talking about immigrants or immigration, they most likely have an image of Mexico’s flag in the back ground. The story is also more than likely to be about, or associated with, Mexico or Mexicans. Very little people know that actual meaning of the word ‘immigrant’ which means, “someone who travels to another country and establish permanent residency”. Nowhere in the definition does it state the words ‘illegal’, ‘alien’ or ‘fence hoppers’. Yet the media portrays and associates them with these …show more content…

It has caused hate crimes to double in the past six months. It has caused many people attack others just because they have a different view point or look different from an ‘American’. There are thousands of videos that show people arguing and fighting each other and the media is not helping fix the problem they have created. Society lets the media influence their view point because it is everywhere. Yet us as people can change all of that around. Together people can exploit the media’s false news and see through the propaganda that is being pushed out to the public. Society can educate itself or help each other instead of throwing racial slurs at each other. If people start to change now it can soon lead a decrease or even a stop in discrimination because of the children that adults influence. They can see that what the media is doing is wrong and hopefully put a stop to it in the
