When translated to english the French word renaissance means rebirth. This is a perfect description of the event. The Renaissance was a time of rebirth for people between the 1300s and the 1600s, in Florence, Italy. A time of education and self discovery. The Renaissance served as a transitional time between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age.
What exactly was the Renaissance? Well I’m glad you asked, the Renaissance was technically a ‘’rebirth’’ or ‘’revival’’ of art and literature, as some people would describe it as, and it had started in Europe around the year of 1400 and had lasted until about the 1700s. The Renaissance was a time of intellectual excitement, when art and literature blossomed and groundbreaking scientific advances were being made. During this period of time large parts of scientific and cultural advances were beginning to develop, and people were beginning to see themselves in a new way. The Renaissance changed man’s view of man in at least four areas: Art, Astronomy, Literature, and last but not least Human Anatomy.
Florence, known as the birthplace of Renaissance, stood as the wealthiest city during the 15th century, has experienced a dramatic growth on economy and artistic activities. It is known for its richly inherited culture from the ancient Roman and renowned for its artistically abundant collection on art works, craft and architectures masterpiece. Also, it offers the greatest culture in Europe with the numerous constructions of churches and palazzo, which are the relative prosperity that followed the wealth merchants with the economic growth. Well, Renaissance was a revolution of literature, architecture, and people in that time believed that dark days were gone, hope and development stepped in city of Florence. The Medici family had impact in Renaissance revolution, but I think that Renaissance would have happened with or without the existence of Medici family. In addition, people were seeking for knowledge, development in past. Furthermore, architecture, theater, sculpture, were people's passion. Even though with shortage of architecture tools, people of Florence were able to make architecture with great designs.
The fifteenth-century Florentine family that was powerful and influential patrons of the arts was the Medici family. The Medici family played a significant role in the patronage of Renaissance art and architecture in Florence and other parts of Italy. The family's support of artists, architects, and scholars such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Brunelleschi, and Galileo helped to foster the development of Renaissance culture and ideas.
The Renaissance was a period in time where everything started to change after the middle ages. During this historical period humans stared evolving by becoming smarter and inventing useful recourses that have changed the world. The renaissance was a life changing period which brought more joy to the world after conquering the dark ages. The Renaissance changed man’s view on the world by using Art, Science and Literature to make humans brighter and because of the rapid information they were gaining. Art during the Renaissance grew rapidly because of Leonardo Da Vici, and Michelangelo who changed the way people painted and drew by creating strategies which made art more interesting.
The Medici family’s financial success came from the powerful Medici bank, which was one of the most crucial elements of the Medici’s rise to power as it created opportunities for the Medici to form ties with powerful leaders and groups in other settings beyond Florence. Their greatness as bankers significantly assisted their political power’s advancement. Most importantly, the Medici bank was one that extended beyond the boundaries of Florence. To start it off, the Medici bank opened its Roman Branch in 1397 (Lecture Slides) and by 1408, had established another branch in Venice as well (Hale, page 13). Furthermore, the Medici granted a significant loan to the government of Venice, which attests to the great financial power of the Medici family.

This period of time could be considered Italy’s “golden age” because of all the new inventions and discoveries that happened. The Renaissance was Italy’s unofficial rebirth. During the Renaissance, men became much more educated and were encouraged to be inventors and scholars.
In this lesson, I watched the video - “The Renaissance, Reformation, and Beyond: Towards a Modern Europe.” This video showed that when and where the Renaissance began, who famous artists were at that time, what influences to architecture. The Renaissance began at the North Italy in fifteenth century and influenced by the civilizations of ancient Rome and Greece. The Renaissance was a time when artists came to again value the classical ideals. For example, Leonardo da Vinci was a very well-known artist who made no distinction between art and science.
The Renaissance era was noted to be an era of discoveries, wealth and great fortune. Most of Italy’s cities became wealthy through trade accessed through waterways around the country. The wealth of these merchants clearly influenced as well as supported new artist, writers, and philosophers. Among these wealthy merchant families was the Medici Family, whose wealth was in banking. During the early period of Renaissance Era the Medici Family’s wealth/contributions and support establish them as one of the most influential patrons of the arts/literature and intellectual learning.
Between the 14th and 16th century, Italy went through what they termed as Renaissance which was characterized by several changes in the country. As described in Italy, Renaissance means rebirth or rebuilding of a given societal role. The transition of the country came from the medieval to the early European period where different normal operations of the society were greatly altered. Before the rebirth process began, the Italians had the desire to rebuild some of their greatest being thus the creation of the Renaissance process. As a result of the process, Italy had several achievements regarding science, literature, philosophy, music and arts.

The home of the Renaissance was Italy, with its situation of noticeable quality on the Mediterranean Ocean. Italy was the business capital amongst Europe and Eurasia, amid this day and age, from fourteenth and sixteenth hundreds of years. Painters, stone workers, and designers displayed a comparative feeling of enterprise and the want for more noteworthy information and new arrangements.
The Renaissance is a period in Europe from the 14th to 17th century. It was considered the time between the Middle Ages and modern history. It all started as a cultural movement in Italy in the late Medieval period and later spread to the rest of Europe, which started the beginning of the Early Modern Age. There are many highly interesting periods of history but the level of artistic and architectural production during this time is amazing. So much that centuries later they continue to capture the public 's imagination.
The renaissance was a time of many different improvements and changes to the era previous to it, the medieval ages, the renaissance re-introduced many different Roman and Greek traditional aspects, so much so that renaissance literally translates into “rebirth” in French. Other changes include social such as the rise of humanism and humanist beliefs, secularism, individualism, big changes in mathematical studies, sciences and all types of learning in general, the printing press invention, as well as religious changes, and the arts were also affected and changed with techniques such as chiaro-scuro, perspective, sfumato, and further more to be explained.
