Moreno, Kelleher, and Pumper (2013) evaluated depression symptoms using social media website by developing depression codebook. This codebook can be used and expanded in future for different disorder cases such as anxiety. They also investigated suicide protocol in this paper (Moreno et al., 2013). De Choudhury, Counts, and Horvitz (2013) also used social media as measurement tool of depression in population. They used crowdsourcing technique to collect data and developed SVM classifier to predict depressive tweets with the accuracy of 73% and along with this geographical analysis of tweets were performed (De Choudhury, Counts, et al., 2013).
Charles Barber’s article, “The Medicated Americans: Antidepressants Prescriptions on the Rise,” focuses on the views of “depression” and “Depression” that are caused by antidepressants like Prozac, Paxil, and Norpramin. Barber talks about how people do not understand the differences of depression which causes misdiagnoses and misunderstanding of the two. One meaning of “Depression” is how it is used to do describe a serious medical condition and the other meaning a broad terming meaning feeling down, bummed out, or anything along those lines. A study conducted by the New England Research Institution showed that 43 percent of people who have been prescribed antidepressants did not have any diagnosis of depression or any mental health conditions.
This Article “Depression, Asthma, and Bronchodilator Response in a Nationwide Study of US Adults” objective is to find if there is a connection between depressive symptoms and BDR or asthma in US adults. The United States alone has 16 million adults that suffer once a year from one major depressive disorder. Also, asthma affects nearly 28 million adults in the US and is also a major public health issue around the world. Even though asthma and depression have been linked with each other, it is still not clear if anxiety symptoms explain this association. But, to get some more statistics they did The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) to get the nutritional and health status of adults and children in the United States.
In this case study researchers examined the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression (CESD) scale with the care giver population. The CESD scale is consider one of the most common measures of heath research for depressive symptoms, patient and population outcomes. The CESD-10 is widely use in studies, but however researchers indicate of considering a briefer analysis by excluding one both positive word item. Researcher in the studies conducted testing the CESD-10 scale with both Classic Test Theory psychometrics and Rasch analysis because based of their previous concerns about the positively worded items.
1. Redi and Pasteur conducted experiments to disprove spontaneous generation, which is life from nonliving matter. Francesco Redi disproved it by placing three jars with meat chunks in them. One let the meat be exposed to flies as well as air. Jar number two was covered with a piece of cloth.
Of the top five conditions driving overall health cost, depression is number one. There are financial benefits of integrated care (Korff , Katon, Unützer, Wells , Wagner (2001). The platform for this model is important to be in clinics where patients visit the most and supervised with a collaborative team of patient educators, social workers, nurses, physicians, and consultant psychiatrist (Hunter, Goodie, Oordit, & Dobmeye, (2009). The team should be available to the patient for a first encounter the same day to identify the patient’s needs. Each appointment is concise except the evaluation by the Social Worker.
Even though depression is a common issue among primary care patients, only few communicate openly with their primary care providers (Williams & Nieuwsma, 2016). Moreover, two-thirds of depressed patients at the clinic setting are present with only bodily symptoms, such as back pain and headache (Williams & Nieuwsma, 2016). The United States Preventive Services Task Force [USPSTF] (2009) commends general depression screening for adults aged 18 and older. However, this takes place only when there are some staff-assisted depression care supports, such as clinical evaluation, patient education, and follow-up calls. Otherwise, routine screening is not recommended, unless in a case where an individual is suspected of having depression based on self-report, clinical scrutiny, or risk factors for depression (USPSTF, 2009).
Treatment Resistance Depression Case #1: The man whose antidepressant stopped working The patient in the scenario has had a reoccurrence of major depression episodes five times. Most often, after he stops taking an antidepressant, he will have a reoccurrence of the depression symptoms, which sometimes will go for mouths. His occurrence of episode 3 started his resistance when he stops take Wellbutrin (bupropion) which was given to help with sexual dysfunction. As a result, the patient could not maintain the Sertraline (Zoloft) and discontinue it within a year.
Time changes many things, from the progression of the horse and buggy to the invention of the automobile. If there’s one thing in this world that can be guaranteed is that time changes all things, and one area that we can see this most clearly is in the progression of American education. From a time when only the wealthy were able to afford the privilege of education, we have progressed into a society that demands education for all youth. Many historical figures have contributed to the changes that have led to the progression in education. Each of these figures have their own ideas and goals to lend to the educational society of their day.

The first diagnosis that I chose for Suzy was Major Depressive Disorder, recurrent/moderate. According to Dinger, Barrett, Zimmermann, Schauenburg, Wright, Renner, Mano and Barber (2015) “Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a clinically and etiologically heterogeneous condition evidencing wide symptomatic and response variability” (pg. 93). The DSM-5 then goes into more details regarding the wide symptoms that Dinger et al hinted to. According to DSM-5, Major Depressive Disorder is characterized by insomnia, fatigue, somatic complaints, sleep disturbances, depressed mood, and loss of interest or pleasure in nearly all activities. I chose Major Depressive Disorder because of the symptoms that Suzy described experiencing nearly every day prior
Depression is described as a negative emotional state which can be categorized by feelings of low self-esteem, reduced energy and a decrease in the ability to enjoy life. There are various forms of depressions which are described as “heterogeneous states varying greatly in severity and in symptomatology” (Beigel, 1971). There is a difference between what is known as clinical depression and low mood, this distinction is said to be determined by the length of time the symptoms last and the degree to which they impact upon daily functioning. When considering the fact that depression is such a prevalent and common disorder for the human species it is argued that it could be an adaptive trait. For depression to be considered an adaption in evolutionary
