However, getting a high level of psychological distress will be associated with psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety. Psychological distress is a common term for delineating unpleasant emotions and an inappropriate response to a stressful situation. Psychological distress not only endangers the individual well-being, but may also strengthen negative health behaviors or lead to a physiological negative response to stressful conditions over time.
