My favorite aspects of the class were the discussion we had during our class time. After reading the assigned articles, I was sometimes confused on some of the topics they were discussing and after going to class and having a talk about them made me understand the material more. Another aspect of the class I enjoyed was reading all the readings as well. Even though I did have some trouble on them, overall they were really interesting since I got to see a different perspective of mental health that I was not familiar with. I do have a few family members that deal with mental illnesses, but I never made questions or spoke to them about how they experience these illnesses. As mentioned before, the people that I do know that have a mental illness never talked about it since I did not ask. I built this idea that people with depression, anxiety, etc. all went through the same thing and after this course I understand that having a mental illness is always experienced differently within each individual. It was my fault for not doing more research or talking to people, but I’m glad that this course taught me about the uniqueness of mental health. This was also a challenge for me, about not knowing that much about what was being discussed so I did not have much to say during class. Since I also did not know much, I did not want to ask questions that could of potentially had offended somebody, but I could of since we built a safe and respectful environment. There are no suggestions from my behalf about improving the Peer Support Group, since I’m thankful about getting really positive connection with one of the members in my group. It would have been nice if all of the group members got along with the rest, but that is not always a possibility with
