Youth Violence

I am going to be talking about youth violence, An average of 15 young people are killed each day in the U.S., and over 80 percent of those are killed with guns. Michelle Obama talks about the youth violence and how if people would donate money to kids for activities to keep them off the streets or to give them programs to help with homework or anything needed to keep them distracted the youth violence would be lowered. I believe this is important because as a teenager in this generation it's dangerous teens getting involved in gangs or gun activity some think thats how they are going to protect themselves. The use of repetition is used to show that Obama is trying to make her point stand out and to get her point across, she wanted everyone to see how important this topic is to her. Giving reasons on why she feels so strongly on the topic of youth violence, she stated “Maybe they would be doing their homework, or taking jump shots, or learning a new program instead of looking for trouble. Maybe if these kids saw some kind of decent future for themselves, instead of shootings, there would just be fistfights, some angry words exchanged. And then maybe -- just maybe -- today, more of our young people would be in classrooms and at jobs, instead of in custody, facing even worse odds than they started out with.” I agree with what she has said because it really shows that she believes in this generation and believes we could change and be focused on more important things going on such as family and
