Middle School Math: Personal Statement

My goals of study are dedicated to teaching middle school math. Ever since I was little I could always see myself as being a teacher and math just happened to be my favorite subject in school. Now that I am a senior in highschool I have found myself in a position where I need to make my own decisions and figure out if teaching is what I really want to do with my life. While I pondered on the thought, an opportunity arose which was “Engineering Day”. I was so excited because I would finally get to learn more about working with machinery and the different types of opportunities that await me.

On the day of December,1 2016, the 2016 Making It Work Engineering and Manufacturing Fair influenced my academics and career goals by encouraging me to work harder and make sure that everyday is a successful day. Every time I would reach a station the first thing the representatives asked each person would be “what do you want to be after you graduate high school?”. I would reply with the answer that I want to be a teacher and every response would be “That is good, we need better teachers”. Hearing those responses made me think of how today’s teachers are and how they really have a huge impact on everyone's lives and future.
