This bible verse best describes this book. The book Under the Overpass shows the view from the homeless person perspective. Under the Overpass also shows that we should appreciate what we have. We should take one second and cherish being able to have our needs met instead of drooling over the various unnecessary wants. Many people do not go hungry or have to trash can dive for food, but for those who do should at least get some type of respect from others who differ from them. Mike Yankoski thought as being a Christian he should be doing a lot more than he was at the moment. Mike went about removing all materialistic things from his life. The book is not to be viewed as mimicking the homeless or trying to live like a homeless man. Before Mike’s journey he added a friend to go along with him. They traveled all over with only a guitar. Mike and his friend really did have literally nothing. They slept in creepy places on the ground, in shelters, and really anywhere they could lay their heads. Mike and his friend spent months traveling from city to city. Each city seemed to have treated them differently, but still they were not respected nor did they seem to be alive to others. They sang for money and at times even begged, but still could not supply themselves with the proper meals they needed. Also, if they were to try to stash some of their food something always ruined it. Mike and his friend even dug through trash and old dumpsters to find food. They did what it took to survive with
