Mildred Montag’s True Happiness In Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, technology basically is society's main focus. There are no more books and everything is done digitally. They have televisions that plaster the length of the walls and absolutely strict rules on “older” things, such as being able to read books. The society in the book is different from today’s society. So the question is, are people in the book happy, or more specifically, is Mildred Montag happy? Mildred Montag lives in a society where watching television programs is ok in everyday life and reading books is not. Everyone is expected to be ignorant. Society of her time does not want be to be knowledgeable therefore they(society and the government) banned books from being read
