Born on September 13, 1943, Mildred Delois Taylor from Jackson, Mississippi is a remarkable author who is famous for books that feature topics of segregation, discrimination, and the hardships faced when "born in a segregated city in a segregated state in segregated America" (Mildred Taylor). Due to this, her family moved to Ohio to provide a safer environment for Mildred and her sister Wilma. Despite the effort, Mildred was still witness of racial discrimination all throughout her life, specially because she continued to visit her family in the South.
