Introduction Does anyone know who holds the Guinness World Record for “Most Prolific Female Murderer?” This woman has been known for her rumored gruesome acts that she held in her Castle achtice in Slovakia. That person would be Elizabeth Bathory, the infamous “Blood Countess.” Bathory’s reputation is that she has allegedly tortured and murdered at least six hundred people and bathed them in their blood. The main thing that made her mark in history was when she was accused of torturing and murdering hundreds of girls and women; there were hundreds of rumors that ensued from the trial, which at the end of it left more questions than answers. The National Geographic website states this, “Báthory’s privileged upbringing was tainted by violence and health problems, according to Aleksandra Bartosiewicz. “‘Already at the age of four or five, she suffered from epileptic seizures, violent mood swings, as well as painful migraines’” (O’Connell, 2022). Bathory would also witness public executions and servants being beaten and scolded around age six. Elizabeth was considered to be a very bright and beautiful girl at around ten to eleven years old; which was when she became engaged to Count Ferenc Nadasdy. At fifteen or sixteen years old they got married and gave birth to five children; two daughters and one son survived out of the five. Elizabeth’s husband was a soldier, so their time together was minimal, but some sources state that in the small time they were together, Nadasdy taught Elizabeth some torture techniques. Biography website states this, “However, he may have schooled her in techniques of torture when they were together” (Kettler, 2023). After her husband died in 1604, rumors of her crimes began to
