Cyrus, Julius Caeser, and Ramesses II were all powerful leaders from 1300 BC to 60 BC. They all had certain benefits and added many opportunities to the empire they lead. Each one lead their empires in many battles through both success and failure. The military and political careers of Cyrus, Julius Caeser, Ramesses II, are best compared by their military techniques, leadership, and how they affected their empires. Persia had many leaders from Darius the Great to Xerxes. One of their great known leaders is Cyrus the Great (Wikipedia, 2008). Cyrus was commonly known as Cyrus the Elder and the founder of the Achaemenid Empire (Wikipedia, 2008). Cyrus has also played an important role on the known identity of Iran. His influence traveled all the way as far as Athens where many Athens adopted the cultures such as the Achaemenid Persian culture as one of their own (Rita, 1987). Cyrus had many successes and his reign lasted between 29 to 31 years of his life (Wikipedia, 2008). With success come many downfalls. One of his first large successes was conquering the Median Empire (Wikipedia, 2008). After the Median Empire he then conquered the Lydian Empire and leading to the Neo-Babylonian Empire. He then went into Central Asia which resulted into his large campaigns. He would have took over Egypt but died in battle fighting the Massagetae in December 520 BC (Wikipedia, 2008).
