There have been many different types of graphic design that have been created all around the world. There have also been many different designers and illustrators that have been introduced to the field of graphic design. Some of these artists have changed and adjusted their style over time, while some have consistently maintained the same style that they began with. Many of these designers have impacted many areas within graphic design and their work continues to inspire the world. One of the many artists that majorly impacted the field of graphic design was Milton Glaser. Glaser was born in the city of New York in the year 1929. He attended The High School of Music and Art. He later graduated from Cooper Union in 1951. After receiving a Fulbright Scholarship, he was educated in graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, Italy. Upon returning to New York, Glaser co-founded Push Pin Studios alongside Reyonld Ruffins, Seymour Chwast, and Edward Sorel in 1954. Both Chwast and Glaser directed the company. The logo was created and used in 1977 to positively promote the city and state of New York. The logo is set in the rounded slab serif typeface American Typewriter and consists of an upper-case “I,” a red heart symbol, the an upper-case “N” and “Y” (Aaron S.). Throughout the 1970’s, New York was having a difficult time. As crime rates increased, tourism majorly decreased. The New York State Department for Economic Development hired Wells Rich Greene and Milton Glaser to design a campaign to encourage and inspire tourism to New York City. During the meeting with The New York State Department for Economic Development and Wells Rich Greene, Glaser presented a design he drew up, which was what is now the “I Love New York”
