Part Three: Development of Mindfulness Training Program Based on the results of the survey, it is clear that while mindfulness-training programs are not widely offered to employees by Tulsa area businesses, there is interest among employees about utilizing mindfulness techniques. Thus, based on the results of the survey, a training program will be developed that corporations can use to implement mindfulness training at their workplace. Proposed Program Scope Goal. Mindfulness concepts can be applied to coaching sessions. This is an opportunity for supervisors or coaches to reinforce the principles of the mindfulness training, to help their employees to remain in a mode of “mindfulness”. For example if an employee is not being productive because they are multi-tasking, or because they are having difficulty in achieving work-life balance, coaching helps to reinforce the mindfulness training techniques one has learned. By helping employees focus on the present moment, it helps to cultivate a culture of mindfulness. Another way that mindfulness coaching comes into practice is by helping employees to deal with challenges they have encountered in their jobs. Again, bringing mindfulness to the forefront to help employees deal with their emotions without judgment is key here. By reminding employees of the mindfulness techniques and how it will help them to deal with current issues in their life you are helping the individual grow. The amount of participants per sessions should be between 16-20 individuals. Training Sessions: Each week a different type of meditation will be introduced. A breakdown of each session can be found in Appendix E. Estimated Costs: Group training costs are estimated at $100-$150/per employee for the duration of the 6 week training period. These costs are based on local cost comparisons available for qualified trainers in the Tulsa area. If for example, the company selects 20 participants for the study, the cost of the training would be in the range of $1500-$2,500.00. Proposed Program Evaluation It is recommended that companies randomly select interested participants to take part in a pilot training program. The group of participants should be organized into two groups. One group will be the control group and one group will be a wait-list group. The control group will receive the training, and the wait-list group will not.
