College students face a heavy work load with a small window of time for their social life and time for relaxation. Much of their time is taken up with deadlines, classes and work. Leaving little time for their well-being. Although it might be hard for students to rummage through their innermost thoughts and ambitions, it is immensely important to make time for stress management. College students have daily stressors that can lead to depression and suicide. Students that introduce Mindfulness-Based Meditations (MBM) into their lives can relieve stress that can potentially cause depression. MBM have the potential to reduce stress and to enhance coping with problems such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, eating disorders, personality disorders, and substance abuse, (Wisner, 2013). Cognitive functioning is one aspect that MBM has a significant impact on. Cognitive skills such as attention regulation, information processing speed, working memory, creativity, and cognitive elasticity have all been shown to support students’ learning (Waters et all, 2015). Being in a meditative state has been shown to support growth with experiences of sustained concentration, heightened awareness, reduced mental noise, and clarity of consciousness. Improving these cognitive skills in students can directly improve their well-being and ability to function celerity (Waters et all. 2015). Interpersonal relationships and personal growth are beneficial for college students not only inside of the classroom but also outside.
