Andy Puddicombe is a mindfulness expert who specializes in meditation. In his early twenties, he journeyed to the Himalayas to study mindfulness. This sparked the beginning of his cultivation of mindful knowledge and techniques that led him to travel around the world to become a Tibetan Buddhist monk in Northern India. He is now a renowned speaker on meditation.
During his Ted Talk, Puddicombe provided a broader view of meditation. We live in a busy world where our minds are constantly thinking, processing, and stressing. Our mind is essential because it dictates our overall function, happiness, and relationship with others. However, we don’t spend the time to take care of our mind. We live in a world where we are “so distracted that we are no longer present and we miss out on the things that are most important to us.” Meditation offers a means of slowing life down and enjoying the big picture rather than being caught up in the small stressors of the moment.

In comparison to other literature I’ve researched, this article takes a similar perspective on the benefits of mindfulness, but it is more effective because of the personal approach that Puddicombe takes.
