Schmidt, the lead character, Holling Hoodhood has a dad who’s constantly agitated and distressed about his job. If you do one little thing that could mess up his business, it could affect the descendants after him. Holling’s dad finally has a chance to have his verge of happiness.
Sometimes you have to look at both perspectives of an argument to completely understand them. The author of Tortilla Sun is Jennifer Cervantes and Diana López wrote Confetti Girl. These two novels are realistic fiction. Confetti Girl revolves around a girl who only has a father who is a teacher and lends her daughter his copy of a book. The girl says that she will read the book but instead puts a soda can on it.

In the novel Copper Sun by Sharon Draper, Polly is an indentured servant who wants to escape her class and Amari is a slave who has had her family ripped away from her. Polly grows from a narrow-minded young woman who looks down on slaves into a more tolerant young woman, likewise, Amari grows from a naïve young woman who does not trust her instincts into one who is wise beyond her years. Throughout the novel, Polly grows from a narrow-minded young woman who is disdainful of slaves because of how she was raised, because they prevent her from getting a job, and because they seem less intelligent than she into a more tolerant young woman who understands that slaves are the same as she is on the inside. Polly was raised to see herself as being above slaves and closer to her rich employers than the other indentured servants and slaves that she lived with: as her father told her, “the company you keep will rub off on you, Polly girl.
Sharon Draper’s Copper Sun contains several complex characters: Amari, Teenie and Afi - but possibly the one with the most essential change is Polly. Polly begins as a snobby but poor indentured servant, she has the same jobs as slave but feels superior to them. As the plot progresses, Polly begins to learn that the slaves are just ordinary people and whites aren’t superior, but the same. Polly being white helps convey how learning more about a different kind of person or about a new thing can help remove the set stereotype someone may feel. Draper’s creation of Polly has many functions, and one of the these many instances of character design is how she plays into one of many overarching themes.
This report is based on is Copper Sun by Sharon Draper. The main character of the book who throws around all the emotions would be “Amari” or “Myna”, a 15 year old African girl who was pushed out of her home and forced into slavery, as some people in the book called her. The book brings around two emotions that set the tone for the entire book all the way up till the ending. Those two feelings are happiness and the overwhelming feeling of sadness throughout the book. Yes this book does have a lot of sadness throughout and the book.
Dynamic character who undergoes an important inner change, as a change in personality or attitude. The story, Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix, tells the interesting story of Luke Garner’s life when and how he became “free” from hiding as a third child. In the beginning of the story, Luke and his family sold their land to the government for the money. In towards middle of the story is when Luke spotted a third child in the sports family’s house and leaves home to go investigate only to find another third child like him named Jen. By the end of the story, Jen died fighting for her freedom and with the help of Jen’s father, Luke was able to get a fake id. These events have caused Luke to develop as a dynamic character.
The novel Ordinary People, by Judith Guest is a touching and admirable story told from two similar however slightly different characters. The story is so touching due to all the emotions and everyday struggles on one seemingly ordinary family. The Jarret family, Conrad, Calvin and Beth, face anxiety, deep depression and growth as a unit throughout the book while different events in each character’s life that affects them differently. By telling the story from two different perspectives, a reader may conclude that Calvin and Beth both withhold many similarities, although they come off as completely opposite characters.
In the movies Coal Minor's Daughter, Loretta Lynn is betrayed as a hillbilly because she was raised in the backwoods, she seems to be uneducated, and her character is displayed as a low class figure. However, she finds a way to leave the Appalachian region by using her singing talent. Another hillbilly charcter from the movie Coal Minor's Daughter would be Loretta;s husband Mooney Lynn. This character comes off as a menace hillbilly. He controls his wife out of fear.
In the book Renegades by Marissa Meyer, many things happen throughout the book that many will find interesting. This story follows two main characters, Adrian Everhart and Nova Artino/Mclain. In this world, there are these people who are prodigies with superpowers that they either inherit or are born with. There is also a Council that is made of the best superheroes or Renegades, all around the city that this book takes place in and the son of the top two Council members is Adrian Everhart with their leadership skills and the ability to make whatever he draws come to life. There are also villains in this world of heroes called the Anarchists and within these villains is the niece of the formerly ruler of Gatlon City during the Age of Anarchy.
In the novel, Legend, by Marie Lu, June is a teenage girl who has lost both her parents. She is the child prodigy of a corrupt society. Everyone on the higher side of the social hierarchy is in some shape or form involved in this corrupt situation unfolding. June meets Day, who is a fugitive on the run from the government. He is a very sneaky and stealthy character.
In the book Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy, the mother of Willowdean, the main character, shows development throughout the book through a change of thought about Willowdean. Willowdeans mom won a pageant when she was a teenager, and later on in life helped run the pageant in her hometown; this caused Willowdeans mom to have great pride in her win and a specific ideology of what the pageant is about. It is rare for someone out of what is considered normal in pageants to try to compete. To fit that standard of what is considered normal, Willowdeans mom went out of her way every pageant season to go on extreme diets and workouts to maintain the perfect image she had created. However, Willowdean is what her mother would consider the opposite of her; Willowdean is more on the bigger side, and her mom does everything to try to slim her down to be just like her believing it would make Willowdean happier.

The play, A Raisin in the Sun, portrays the lives of African–Americans during the 1950s. Lorraine Hansberry, a writer and a social activist, reinforced the traditional gender roles, especially female’s, by depicting how the Youngers interact and how they act in an economical struggle. Throughout the play, A Raisin in the Sun, she uses Walter Lee Younger, Ruth Younger and Lena Younger to reinforce the traditional role of fathers, wives and mothers within a family.
