After reading the novel Twisted, written by Laurie Halse Anderson, I have become more aware of how different emotions and attitudes that people have can positively or negatively affect how they’re viewed by society. Furthermore, an individual’s attitudes and actions can also change their perspective of the world and the quality of their life. Early on in the book, we are introduced to the main character Tyler, who is an emotional, unpopular, and insecure seventeen year old senior who is hoping for things to change. Throughout the story, we follow his emotional rollercoaster filled with his thrilling highs and devastating lows. After researching astrology signs and their true meanings about specific traits, I have decided that Tyler fits within the Cancer symbol.
In the novel MONSTER, written by Walter Dean Myers, tells the story of two men under the age of 25 on trial for felony murder. Steve Harmon is a 16 year old boy who is accused of being the lookout to a robbery that James King, a 22 year old and his friend Bobo Evans were planning. James King is accused of being the one that ripped Alguinaldo Nesbit’s gun from him and used it to shoot and kill Mr.Nesbit. Prosecutor Sandra Petrocelli works to convince the jury that their age isn’t an excuse that a man died at their hands. Kathy O’brien and Asa Briggs both work as the attorneys to prove that one of these men are innocent.

After becoming an Olympic champion, Louie finds himself fighting for his life in World War II. He is a changed man when he returns home.

In the novel, Monster—written by Walter Dean Myers—follows the life of a sixteen year old boy Steve Harmon who is a suspect of felony murder and robbery. Throughout the story, we see several journal entries from Harmon who reveals weakness through his words but not his actions. Clearly, if someone were to show weakness during adversity, there would be negative consequences in the future.
Bad things happen to good people. A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is a story about the orphans that are in a bad situation. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire parents died in a fire while Count Olaf is trying to steal their fortune. They escaped Count Olaf and got to safety for a little. They learned that bad things happen to good people too.
“Fear keeps us focused on the past and worried about the future.” The main character of the short story “The Terror” by Junot Diaz would agree with this because he is stuck in a cycle of fear after getting beaten up. He got into a fight with a group of brothers and was paralyzed with fear for a long time after that. The author uses the character's actions and his feelings to show that the only way to conquer fear is to stand up to fear itself.
Stephen King's Why We Crave Horror Movies explains why he thinks people watch so many horror movies. According to him, everyone is all a little crazy in their own way. There is just a variety of definitions of crazy. There is also a difference between deranged and having a guilty pleasure.

For every little action, the rest of one's future could be affected.

Alguinaldo Nesbitt was shot with his own gun while working at his own drugstore. Lorelle Henry testifies king was at the store the day of Mr. Nesbitt death, Bobo Evans testifies that King shot Mr. Nesbitt with a chrome, and lastly Osvaldo Cruz testifies that him and King planned and did this get over. On the other hand Dorothy Moore gives king an alibi.
Vengeful Unhinged, by Jerry Sonenblick, is a book about political battles and revenge. David Sherwood, a Jew, is a successful lawyer in Arizona, United States of America. Mason Grewe, who is also a lawyer, exploits a client, and in the line of duty, David files charges against him. Eventually, Mason is stripped of his license to practice law. Out of shame, he packs up and leaves for Las Vegas, and full of hatred, he hires a spy to monitor David's activities.
In the book Diary Of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, Greg is playing video games when his mother comes in to say that they have to go to church. Greg wanted to refuse, but had no option but to go. In the car, Greg accidentally sits in a spot of his little brothers chocolate stain. While getting out of the car, his brother Rodrick tells him that he has a chocolate stain. Greg asks if he could stay in the car while waiting for them but his mother refused and told him it was rather losing the game or coming inside.
" Harvey 's dream" by Stephen King is the story about a man that dreams about a horrible accident; a dream that might end up being a reality. The meaning of the story is to never underestimate a dream, because dreams might end up becoming a reality. The point that the author tries to make to the reader is to evaluate the elements of one 's dreams, and determine what our subconscience put there, and what is simply an element of our imagination. The theme of the story is mystery; inside the mystery we can find elements of sadness, unhappiness, and fear. There are two main characters in which one is Harvey, the husband who is telling the dream, and the other is Janet, the wife, who is listening to the dream.
Gonzo journalism is a style of journalism pioneered by Hunter Thompson (Famighetti, 2007), which is defined by “a lack of objectivity due to the writer's immersion in the subject and often participation in the activity being documented” (Merriam-Webster). In his short story, “Fear and Loathing in America” about the September 11 terrorist attacks, Thompson (2001) writes in the gonzo style of journalism throughout. The piece demonstrates a striking lack of objectivity, which leads to dramatization and speculation. It also demonstrates Thompson’s deep involvement with the events on a personal level.
Octavia Butler is well known for having a variety of unconventional themes within her novels and short stories. Butler is one of the first female writers in the feminist science fiction genre, as well as, one of the few African-American women writers in the science fiction genre itself. Her novel Kindred published in 1979, is prime example of the unique and distinct perspective Butler brings to the genre; it is a blend of a neo-slave narrative and feminist science fiction. This blend of themes demonstrates the purpose of feminist science fiction itself: to reconstruct ideas of gender, sex, history, and ideas of the female body. Kindred is also used as a mechanism to defy and reconstruct the science fiction genre by using a female as a main character, redefining dystopias in the science fiction genre, and challenging masculinity of science fiction.
Isaac Newton was known to be a great English scientist and mathematician. With his involvement in the science and mathematics field he was able to help us on future problems. with his new ideas we were able to improve in knowledge. Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642 in Woolsthorpe England and died on March 20, 1727 in Kensington, England. He was born a premature infant so small and sickly that no one thought he would survive(Isaac Newton).
