Did you know that Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested 29 times for unnecessary reasons? MLK and other African Americans were treated poorly because they were black. MLK was a very important figure in the Civil Rights movement. He showed that people can solve problems without violence. He helped end segregation and equalize rights for African Americans. He empowered people to stand up against racism and fight for what they deserve. MLK Jr. is the most critical figure in the Civil Rights movement. He did a lot for African Americans. To begin with, MLK shows that violence is never the answer and he peacefully approached some of the biggest problems. He helped end segregation and desegregation in public areas. The first issue found was, desegregating public areas and black people being treated equally. This was an important issue because black people were protesting because they were not being treated equally. They were trying to get the government to desegregate public areas like restaurants and stores. The second issue found was, to end segregation. This is also important because MLK showed that people can protest against things and fight for their rights peacefully. He showed that racism is not right and everyone should be treated the same. In 1963 MLK was arrested for protesting for equality for blacks in Birmingham. The government didn't like when black people protested against segregation. MLK was assassinated on April 4th, 1968 in a motel while walking to dinner. Many people did not like MLK for what he stood for and believed in. Unfortunately, he was assassinated. However, MLK Jr. fought for equality for black people and helped end segregation. People should not be treated differently because of their skin color. Everyone should be treated equally and have equal rights. All in all, some did not stand with MLK and did not like African Americans having equal rights. But MLK still fought through it and ended segregation. All in all, MLK is the most important person in the Civil rights movement.
