1. Introduction
• General view about the model minority: definition, origin, evolution.
• Thesis statement: The model minority stereotype is detrimental rather than beneficial since such a myth puts Asian groups under invisible pressure, causes the government and the society to ignore problems that Asian groups constantly face and also encourages discriminations against this community.
2. Body
• The first downside: The theory of model minority puts great pressure on Asian communities who failed to match with such made-up stereotypes as ‘naturally intelligent’, ‘over-achievers’, ‘best educated’, ‘hard-working’, ‘docile and submissive’, ‘obedient and uncomplaining’ etc.

• The second disadvantage: The stereotype implies that all Asian groups are self-reliant enough to make do without financial and social support while in fact they do need those supports.
- The myth depicts AA as the highest-income group => means that the myth distorts the true experience of poverty rate and critical health issues shared by H’mong, Laotian, Cambodian, Vietnamese groups (evidence, statistics) => these communities are not seen as disadvantaged people => those groups will be excluded from those who are greatly supported by state policies and welfare programs (more specific).
- The myth portrays Asians as ‘superior’ people in the society who never need any social assistance => When Asians face problems at school, workplace, on street etc. people may think they can rely on themselves; therefore, no signal for help is responded (examples to illustrate) => Asians are deprived of their right to get help from …show more content…

In the mindset of Americans, all Asians possess those stereotypes and they may feel free to exclude Asians. Considering this deeply embedded myth, white parents may teach their children misassumptions about Asian Americans and intentionally form a discriminative attitude. It is white American students who physically and verbally bully Asian peers at school.
