The Holocaust was one of the most difficult times for the Jews looked at today. During world war two the Axis power wanted to segregate the Jews from the rest of the world. The Germans led by Adolf Hitler threw the Jews into the ghettos to separate them away from everybody else. But the Jews were not intended to stay there long they were just in there for the meantime. While the Jews stayed in the ghettos their lives were rough. The Jews that stayed in the ghettos were often super crowded, uncomfortable, not treated as equals, and they were really miserable.

The Warsaw ghetto had 400,000 Jews in an area that was a little more than one square mile (Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 2023). Most ghettos were the same, they were overcrowded with Jews. Warsaw was the biggest ghetto that was extremely overcrowded with Jews. This Ghetto was sealed off by brick walls and barbed wire fences with armed guards, anyone caught leaving or attempting to escape was shot (Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 2023). The Germans were super strict and cruel in this specific ghetto. The Jews could not leave or were shot, they were trapped in a small crowded area. A group of resistance fighters rebelled against German rule with a small army, with weapons, the Germans wiped out this group destroying buildings and bunkers in the ghettos and killing over a thousand Jews (Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 2023). A vast number of the Jewish population was killed because of them trying to fight back and be free. An estimated of about 7,000 Jews were killed in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising where as about 50,000 who did survive were sent to labor and extermination camps (Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, 2023).
