Amyann Albritton Hero’s journey 1/2period One day during summer break on a very hot and steamy day a girl was running through a field when there lay an arrow in the grass telling her to go towards the forbidden place. She refuses to go and turns in the other direction and goes home, though fear and curiosity were bubbling inside of her. Well for the past two weeks she has been thinking of going and she went to start the journey.
In many cultures around the world their are myths about a trickster hero. The Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest for example have many stories about Raven. Although Odysseus matches what Christopher Reeve believes to be a hero, he is actually not. Having stated that, Odysseus may be a leader but is not a hero. A hero is someone who cares for everyone putting his personal welfare last.

Most likely, ones favorite hero novel would follow the hero’s journey which is the cycle of the hero’s adventure involving different archetypes. A hero novel does not necessarily have to involve supernatural powers and the hero does not necessarily have to save the world; a hero can go through the hero’s journey to save one person or to reveal a hidden truth. If a story follows the hero’s journey, it includes the three categories of the archetypes—character, place, event. Midwinterblood written by Marcus Sedgwick is one example of a novel that fits into the hero’s journey archetype.
Many little kids all around the world, look up to superheroes while growing up. Superheroes are regular with people either enhance super powers or are determined to change something by themselves. Superheroes normally have something they are famous for. American superheroes normally acquire unique powers or gadgets , wear various colored suits, and all have their own villain to fight. Almost all superheroes have superpowers or super gadgets.
Well the definition of an epic hero is, “a brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand events. ”(Dictionary.com) If that doesn’t describe Odysseus, I don’t know what does. He risks his life in many circumstances, and he’s widely admired for being the one of the reasons the trojans won the war. He is also affected by lots of events throughout his adventures.

Some of the heroes that are alive today probably won’t make it into history books or even in a magazine but they will be heard about no matter how small or big their act of heroism was. Picture living in a world where no one stood up for what they wanted or even needed, nothing was encouraged or taught to anyone. There would be no schools no one would care about anything they’d be reckless. Everything would be destroyed or damaged and it wouldn’t even matter to anyone.
