“Modern Family” is a family comedy television show that can show the chaotic side of a family. The family has a rough life, in which trials are being faced that can cause more problems than expected. When one problem leads to another the amount of stress and chaos will make a family sounds insane. The name “Modern Family” came from the realistic relation to the standard modern-day family. The modern-day family is known for not being perfect and not trying to make life better than it was meant to be. Having a family is one thing in life that shall not be taken for granted. Family is a term that should not be taken lightly. Sarcasm is the use of mocking or making fun of something in order to contempt the audience to believe it is true. The word to describe the sarcasm in “Modern Family” would be the best fit, satire. The satire in this show expresses how the nation has been made fun of. In this way, thoughts of contempt for many things make them seem out of proportion. According to Peacocke “ Those who do not often watch the program, could easily come to think that the cartoon takes pleasure in controversial humor just for its own sake. But those who pay more attention and think about the creators’ intentions can see that Family Guy intelligently satirizes some aspects of American culture” (Graff 303).
