For this week’s discussion, I chose a work of art and its artist. This work of art is the most famous painting in the world, and it is called the Mona Lisa. This piece of art was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci the early 1500’s just before he died. The Mona Lisa is the main attraction at the Louvre Museum in Paris ("10 Most Famous Paintings in The World - 10 Most Today", 2017).
Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Vinci, Italy and was known as the Renaissance man ("Leonardo da Vinci", 2017). He studied the laws of science which helped him with his work in his paintings. He is the one who influence other artists.

In addition to this he also learned about botany, geology, zoology, hydraulics and physics. Da Vinci was hired to create numerous forms of art. It wasn’t until 1503 when he moved back to Florence to work as a military engineer.
During this year he started on what would become the most famous painting of all time, he Mona Lisa ("Leonardo da Vinci", 2017). The person in the painting is still a mystery. It is said that Da Vinci’s mother and an un-named person were classified as potential sitters for the painting. It was also speculated that the person that was painted was not even a woman but a man named Salai whom was Da Vinci’s apprentice dressed in women’s clothes.
However, based on the information from a biographer, the person that was painted was noted to be Lisa del Giocondo whom was the wife of a wealthy Florentine silk merchant although this is still not certain. Some people say that this painting was to celebrate the birth of the Giocondo’s next child. The Giocondo family indeed commissioned the painting, Da Vinci felt it was a work of art that would always be a work in progress since he wanted it to be perfected, it was never received by the Giocondo family and is kept behind bullet proof glass in the Louvre Museum in Paris and is regarded as a priceless piece of art ("Leonardo da Vinci",
