Visualization - Chapter 8 - At the start of this chapter I can imagine the boys assembling on the hot, white, sands of the beach for a meeting. The sun is more powerful than ever and leaves anything it touches with a peeling sunburn. The waves crash against the jagged rocks and seagulls squawk in alarm. As the meeting goes on, a fight erupts from Ralph and Jack and ralph wins.
Krisel E. Journal #3 So many tragic events happened in the last four chapters of the novel, and some would probably consider it as a happy ending, but I don’t. After all, the violence between the boys have gone way too far. For some reasons, I found myself dissatisfied about how it ended because I feel like it was very open, but somehow, I think that this is how the author wanted to conclude the novel. In chapter nine, Simon died.
Chapter 1. “Ender walked around him and kicked him again… Stilson could not make a sound; he only doubled up and tears streamed out of his eyes… ‘You could probably beat me up pretty bad. But just remember what I do to people who try to hurt me.’ ” (7) Ender’s main objective is to extend his existence, because of this, he forgets his humanity and continues to inflict pain on Stilson.
“When I was seven I had an answer to this question that made sense to me. I never discussed it with anyone, though, for fear of how my mother would feel. I concluded to myself that if I were the hunter, I would shoot the monkey so that it would no longer have the chance to put other hunters in the same predicament.” , (Beah 380). I don’t know why I waited until the end of the book to find a quote to start this off with, but it seems to be the best one to better understand what this book was about.
“Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.” This quote is said by Peter Drucker. The more effort leaders put in the more effort they are going to get out from the people they are leading. The leader might be dis-liked, but being liked isn’t in the job description. Being a leader might not be that hard, but just because they are a leader doesn’t mean they are good.
“It is not human nature we should accuse but the despicable conventions that pervert it” this quote by Denis Diderot shows stark contrast with Golding's view of mankind and human nature. Denis Diderot believes that Mankind himself is not perverted, but it is the things of the world and the temptations that we face that are contributing factors to our perversion. In Lord of the Flies, William Golding portrays mankind as wild and uncivilized. In fact, Golding believes that human nature -- when free of the constraints of society -- pulls people away from common sense and into savagery.
What would life be without evil in the world? Many optimists believe there is an inherent goodness gifted to all people at birth and fundamentally embedded in us that dictates our actions, but the reality is exactly the contrary. People are evil, not because of a desire or choice but out of absolute necessity on account of none of the things we enjoy today would be available or even invented without some evil. Evil, within limitations and with restrictions, is productive for a group of people. Society, with all its art, culture, music, and glory, was created because there was evil present and now works to destroy its very creator through police departments and social initiatives.
Girls are so much more mature than boys. Imagine if in the story, Lord of the Flies, there were only girl characters. Lord of the Flies is a book about a group of kids who were stranded on an island from a plane crash, and were left to try to survive by themselves . The novel takes place on an uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean. The book starts off by Ralph and Piggy discovering a conch shell and Ralph becoming the leader because he is in control of the conch.
1. The opening statements tells us that Ralph is more in-shape and confident. Where as Piggy is heavy-set (hence his nickname) , short, and has Asthma. He likes to do things at his own pace. “he was shorter than the fair boy and very fat” (pg.7) 2.
POV: SteveI never seen Sodapop look so...gloomy. He was always the happier one of the bunch, but ever since our gang has fallen...with deaths. First it was Johnny and Dally, then Darry and Ponyboy. His own brothers. Two-Bit was off somewhere with his children.
Argumentative Claims Claim #1: The young boys weren't living in a normal environment which lead them to savagery. Claim #2 Relationships were falling apart which lead the boys to challenge each other. Claim
The Lord of the Flies explores the facts that some children can become savages and start to kill anything blindly that can get in their way. The Lord of the Flies starts out with Ralph meeting Piggy. Their conversation started out with the background of the situation and thinking they were the only ones on the island. More boys appeared from sea. All the boys were on the same plane and crashed but made it out separately and at different times.
Simon’s first action on the island, as expected, was to faint as his group of choir boys found the rest of the boys marooned on this island. After awaking, and losing some layers, Simon’s next action was to become one of the most vitally important boys on the island without anyone really noticing. Simon, by nature, is a secondary character, meant to stay in the background, making occasional contributions, but not really meant to develop the story in any way. This would be the case in most other stories, but in The Lord of the Flies by Robert Golding, Simon serves one of the greatest and most important roles of all of the boys: Simon is the brain of the group. Through his consistent positive thinking and ideas, civilized actions and ideologies, and selfless thinking and actions, Simon becomes a complete necessity for the group’s survival.
I am writing a letter on behalf of Piggy to Jack to tell how Piggy is feeling and what Jack is doing wrong. Hi Jack This is Piggy. I want to say that I am writing this letter to you because I feel like you guys discriminate me.
