I believe that Steve Harmon is innocent. There are many reasons to believe this. For one “bobo” Evans placed him at the crime scene but Mr. Evans and Mr. King according to Mr. Evans testimony were on drugs. So Steve Harmon could have just happened to be their. Since both Mr. Evans and Mr. King were on drugs i don’t believe that their statements are valid.
In the TV episode, The Monsters are due on Maple Street, there are some similarities and differences compared to the teleplay, The Monsters are due on Maple Street, written by Rod Serling. One of the similarities between the episode and teleplay was the plot, the story stayed the same throughout the whole episode compared to the teleplay. Another similarity was when Pete Van Horn left for Floral Street. When he came back, Charlie shot him.
In the novel Monster by Walter Dean Myers the young main character Steve Harmen who grew up in Harlem, got caught with some bad people and is on trial for murder. Ms. O’Brien and Ms Petrocelli’s final statement during the trial of Steve Harmon and James King for the murder of Alguinanado Nesbitt, helped me come to the conclusion that Steve Harmen is innocent. I came to this conclusion because he never agreed to be the lookout, he never gave a signal, and never received any money. He was not with them at their chicken meet and greet after the robbery, The witness never saw Steve inside the store, Steve also said he was in there to buy mints. When he was on stand he then said he was never in the store.

The owner of a drug store was shot and killed, and Harmon is being investigated. However, he is innocent because the state's witnesses are untrustworthy, there is no evidence he was present, and he never finished his claimed assignment. All of this demonstrates that Steve Harmon is not guilty.

The common thread is, a group of people end up turning into savages because of what others think. In the book the monsters are due on Maple Street by Rod Serling is an episode from the twilight zone that has a good example of how people can turn into savages when others put you in a position where you cannot decide what to believe.
Being on trial can be terrifying. However, being on trial for felony murder would be even worse and the weight on your shoulders would be prodigious. In the book Monster, by Walter Dean Myers, Steve Harmon, a sixteen-year-old black boy, is on trial for felony murder in the city of Harlem, New York. Steve is most likely innocent but in the grand scheme of things, that is not how it looks to be for Steve. It looks as if Steve will be spending his whole life behind bars.
As forewoman of the jury we believe that Mr. Harmon was the look out for the robbery. Two witnesses stated that Mr. Harmon was to go into the drugstore before the robbery was supposed to happen and see if there were any cops or probable witnesses to the crime that ended Mr. Nesbitt’s life. Mr. Harmon’s own journal he stated that he participated in the robbery. These reports of the actions lead us to the conclusion that Mr. Harmon participated in the crime.
In the world today, there are people who make the bad choice. Make a bad choice that is, for example, Steve Harmor was the lookout for the robbery but was not responsible for Mr. Nesbitt's death. He planned it with his friend. He said he was at the shore. However, he left the store before Mr. Nesbitt died.
In the book Monster Steve Harmon is a 16-year-old boy accused of being an accomplice in robbery and murder. Our judicial system is based on the common belief of “innocent until proven guilty.” Steve Harmon was found beyond a reasonable doubt innocent, and that was the only reasonable conclusion the jury could have came to. Although contrary to popular belief, even after the testimony’s saying Steve was the so-called “look out” in the crime, the facts tip the scale in the opposite direction. If Steve was in fact the look out, why was there no signal from Steve when he exited the drug store nor did he get a cut of the money for his “part” in the crime?
The book ended ambiguously and left the reader to question whether or not Steve was truly innocent. Because of the numerous questionable scenes/parts in the novel, I believe that Steve Harmon is guilty of being a participant in the crime that led to death of Mr. Nesbitt. Would a man who was innocent continuously change his story? Steve’s statements regarding his whereabouts and what he was doing on the day of the murder is inconsistent. In Kelly Link's short story “Monster” it is based in North Carolina at a camp, but more specifically a group boys in Bungalow 4 and 6 who go out on a hike to camp at Honor lookout in tents. At the beginning Bungalow 6 went out on a hike and saw a monster and of course they came back to tell all of the other groups at camp. A big part of the story is about Bungalow 4 and how everyone in the group picks on this kid named James Lorbick who i guess you could say is not the coolest kid around. When Bungalow 4 goes on their hike it is not much of a true hike but they do find a big bone in the mud. When they set up to camp a kid named Brian starts picking on James.
