Leadership Concept 3 (Moral Leadership):
Moral leadership is about distinguishing right from wrong and doing right, seeking the just, the honest, the good, and the right conduct in achieving goals and fulfilling purpose. Throughout the movie, Coach Carter has demonstrated moral leadership by taking the responsibility to stand up for what is right. He forbade his players from using derogatory terms, and punished them for their arrogant behaviours towards their losing opponents. When he discovered that the players were not abiding by the terms of the contract he had implemented, he locked up the gym and sent all the players to the library to study, even though they had an important match coming up. Even when he was criticized and pressured by authority for his decision, he stood by his position as he believed in the importance of instilling the right values in his players.

Throughout the movie, Coach Carter has effectively communicated with his team players in various ways. He first communicated his expectations of the team clearly in the form of a basketball contract, but later spent time to invite feedback and listened to what the team had to say before explaining his reason for implementing the contract. He appeals to his audience’s emotions by sharing about how some of his own teammates ended up in prison or dead, which eventually inspired the players to push for better academic results as they understood that he was trying to affect change in their
