Is it supporting the community, or using them as stepping stones for their own gain? Is it because the leader acts like they have endearing traits? Or because they have the wits to steer their community in the right direction for a better future? But the answer might not be as obvious. Mr. Beast and Macbeth are polar opposites. Even when Macbeth is cornered and the kingdom he wrongfully earned is about to be lost to Malcolm and Macduff, he tries to attack in order to remain the king even when the witches prophecy saying he’d die has come true. Macbeth refused mercy just for the title of king to remain for just a bit longer “I will not yield to kiss the ground before young Malcolm’s feet and to be baited with the rabble’s curse. Through Birnam Wood be come to Dunsinane and thou opposed, being of no women born, yet I will try the last.” (Shakespeare, 5.8.32-37) Macbeth knows that he will lose the battle against Macduff because of the witch’s prophecy foretelling him dying to someone not born of a woman. Macbeth refuses Macduff’s offer to surrender for Malcolm to be king, instead he says he would rather die and stay king than live and not be king. Macbeth only focused on remaining king no matter what, when right before the battle his wife, Lady Macbeth, died. But all Macbeth could think about was him staying as king.
