Mr Hop Frog Analysis

On the night of the Masquerade Ball, eight men died due to the unfortunate events that lead Mr. Hop Frog to insanity. Mr. Hop Frog, of a small demeanor whom was crippled and was declared to have dwarfism, was a forced gift to His Majesty along with a lady, Trippetta. They were both abused and mistreated which lead Mr. Hop Frog to the insanity that he was at when His Majesty and his council died. His Majesty acted with many of the seven deadly sins, including: Pride, Gluttony, and Greed. His Majesty was very Prideful in thinking that he had the right to mistreat Mr. Hop Frog the way that he did. He also forced gluttony upon Mr. Hop Frog by forcing him to drink all of the wine. His Majesty was very greedy as well since he would not stop forcing Mr. Hop Frog to do many different unsettling things and went as far as pushing Trippetta …show more content…

Hop Frog’s last statement he says “I am simply Hop-Frog, the jester-and this is my last jest”. “My last jest” means that his was a joke, it was taken too far, but also can we not claim that he has some sort of mental handicap that does not allow Mr. Hop Frog to fully understand what is going on? He has many physical disabilities such as being unable to properly walk, being a dwarf, and having sharp fang like teeth, if these things were not bad enough, he was abused because of it. His Majesty, one of the abusers of Mr. Hop Frog, knew that Mr. Hop Frog did not like drinking wine because it affected him in an odd way, yet His Majesty continued to force Mr. Hop Frog to drink it. Mr. Hop Frog was also recorded to have been foaming from the mouth, seeming to having Rabies which also would have been detrimental to Mr. Hop Frog's ability to think clearly. When Mr. Hop Frog asked them to play this game he was unaware that this unfortunate outcome could come to these 8 high ranking people. His mental capacity was simply too small to thoroughly understand the consequences of these actions and so he was unable to control what he did
