Thesis: The short story "Open Window" is a story that uses deception from the characters mindset, and this deception lets is as the reader be frustrated. Deception is a trick or scheme used to get what you want, like the deception you used to get your sister to agree to do all your chores for a month.The girl is the main character of deception in the short story of "Open Window" with how she treats the visitor. The stories whole theme is based around deceiving a visitor, a man who knows nothing of the family, or the place he is in. The girl practical abuses the man. When the men return he runs from the house, and the girl deceives her family with yet another lie. The young lady sets the idea of deception for the story very quickly with the arrival of Mr. Nuttel, and continues to as he leaves the premises.

Support 1: At the start of Open Window the arrival of the strange man to the house of the girl, and she wonders whether or not he knows about where he has arrived. Once the girl clears up who he is and understands he has no idea about her family, she starts the theme of deception, and begins the plot against the man. Nuttel runs away, nobody knows why, except for the daughter. Then the daugter deceives her parents by telling another lie, about how "the man was chased by dogs and had to stay a night in a freshly dug grave" she said that he told her that when they were alone, and as the readers we know that this story is far from the truth. At this moment we realize that this little girl is a suspended at lying and can deceive her own family to believe any story she happens to want them to believe that day. Lying to her parents is the finally deception of the story, to hide lies she has to lie, and she has the ability to improvise and spit storys of wonder and discontent. This girls deception can trick the mother into deceiving and being a bigger player in the lies than even
