The story “Tuesday of the Other June” by Norma Fox Mazer is a very well written realistic short story. The story is about a young girl by the name of June joins a swim class and meets another girl whose name is also June. The other June starts bullying the original June and she doesn’t do anything about it for a while. At the beginning June joins the swim class and the other June starts bullying her and calling her names. Later on, the other June’s bullying gets worse and worse, she even starts to punch her. In the end of the story June finally stands up for herself and faces the other June and the original June was never bullied again. The character does lie to her mother. The reason why, is she didn’t want her mother getting involved in the situation. June’s mother already had so many problems she didn’t want to add on more problems to her list of things to deal with. In paragraph 11, for example the author says, ‘’I made up a story about tripping on the sidewalk.’’ This means that June doesn’t want her mother to get overwhelmed about having to do so many things. This is important because it shows that June doesn’t want to have her mother to get more and more problems to deal
