Mr Yang Interview

On Friday of April 13, 2018, I interviewed Mr. Yang, and I learned many things about the Chinese education. I had some knowledge of Chinese education system, and how important it is to them. There are differences between Chinese culture and American education, but there are the similar. In the interview, I did learn new things about the Chinese school that caught me by surprise. I left the interview with new knowledge and understandings of the stresses of the Chinese education.
Mr. Yang started the interview by informing that 1-6 is elementary, 7-9 is middle school, and 10-12 is high school. When Mr. Yang was in 7th grade, he learned how to speak English, but now they are teaching English in 3rd grade. Mr. Yang stated that he has many fun memories of his elementary years of school, but not during middle and high school years. Mr. Yang stated that American kid has more free time than Chinese kids. Because Americans are not focused on education as much as the Chinese culture, there is a noticeable difference in analytical and critical thinking between America and China. In China and ask Chinese kids a question, you will notice that they all will have the same answer and their way of thinking will be similar. Compared to American kids, there will be differences in answering, and their way of thinking might be different from others. For the Chinese people, during their time at college is when they start to have free time to themselves and do not have to focus so much on their school work. The surprising thing that I learned from Mr. Yang during the interview is that he said that in America it is easier to get into college but harder to get out of college. However, in China it is harder to get in college, but easy to get out of
