The story “The Pigman” by Paul Zindel is a very good book in my opinion. The book is about two kids who’s avocation is pranking. They love to prank people when they are with eachother. When they prank people they sometimes mortify them and try to make them look bad or stupid. In the story the one main charachter Lorraine, called a man by the name of Angelo Pignati and he anwsered the phone.
The cat, the L shaped barn, the red pickle dish, and the elm tree all have an important symbolic meaning to the story. Wharton uses all these objects as a way of creating and developing the theme of failure in this story. One major, but not the most important symbol used in this novel is the Fromes family cat. The cat is used symbolically throughout the book.
Thesis: In the novel, “The Pigman” by Paul Zindel, John and Lorraine are reliable narrators because whatever they said could be proven even if it was embarrassing, they said things they could not make up, and they expressed their feelings and emotions. I. John and Lorraine are reliable narrators because whatever they said could be proven even if it was embarrassing. When John is introducing himself,he explains to his readers “I hated it so much the first year they called me the bathroom bomber”(Zindel 1).
The webs that Charlotte is able to create amazes Mr. Zukerman who believes that they are a miracle and he even begins to believe that Wilbur is no ordinary pig. Charlotte passes on this good news to the rest of the farm yard animals who have also begun to take part in the plan by helping Charlotte to come up with new words that will impress Mr. Zukerman. Charlotte tells the other animals “The message I wrote in my web, praising Wilbur, has been received. The Zukerman’s have fallen for it, and so has everybody else. Zukerman thinks Wilbur is an unusual pig, and therefore he won’t want to kill and eat him.
The imagery of the first poem greatly contrasts from the overall tone. In “A Barred Owl,” Richard Wilbur describes an owl frightening a child and waking her from her slumber. Wilbur sets the scene with dark imagery: “The warping night air brought the boom/ Of an owl’s voice into her darkened
Authors all around write stories that make people visualize, without the use of a picture. Authors use figurative language and several other techniques to make everybody see the picture without seeing a picture. The story of “The Pigman” by Paul Zindel has a lot of figurative language to show that you don’t need pictures to help visualize the story. In the story, “The Pigman” the author used forms of figurative language to help visualize the setting and help describe people.
The Pigman, written by Paul Zindel, is the adventurous story of two teenagers who befriend a nice, lonely old man and their time together. Although there were many wonderful memories involving John, Lorraine, and Mr. Pignati (the Pigman), sad memories were also made. The Pigman dying was a difficult time for two of the main characters, John and Lorraine. The pigs from the Pigman’s special collection being broken; and the baboon, Bobo, dying were the largest contributions to Mr. Pignati’s death. There may have been other factors; however, these had the most impact towards his death.
For my book report I read the book The Pigman by Paul Zindel. The book is about two sophomores named John and Lorraine who befriend a man named Angelo Pignati over the phone while they were prank calling random strangers with two friends from school. Each chapter of the book is written in the perspective of either John or Lorraine and they are telling the story on a school typewriter in their library. John started out in the first chapter and Lorraine took the second then John took the third and it went back and forth from there. The reason Mr.Pignati is dialed was very specific rather than random.
Throughout this book it is a theme that the boys are forced to simulate adults for means or survival. The quote “Piggy was ... so full of pride in his contribution to the good of society … that he helped to fetch wood.” shows that people weren 't forced to help out and fetch wood, at first, people were offering to help out for the better of others. There was both positives and negatives that came out of this, one of them being the ending of Piggy, the quote“There was no piggy to talk sense” is showing that if people attempt to cut off a certain limb or branch of society they will result in something unbalanced, such as an upside down triangle or an upside down pyramid.
40 developmental assets reflect what you learned in your childhood life. In the novel The Pigman, these assets are shown by all characters. In this novel John allows you to explore the 40 developmental assets, caring, other adult relationships, and honesty. In the beginning of the novel John does not really fit either of those, but as he grows up, he starts to fit into those assets. He was a very bad kid until he met Mr. Pignati, Mr. Pignati was a very kind man who cared for John very well.
Throughout the book, Piggy, an intellectual boy with poor eyesight and asthma, is shown to be an insightful collaborator because he is perceptive, intelligent, and conscientious. To begin,

In the human world, written words are power. Words have a great influence on human society. Written words are considered to be the ultimate truth. Short Story Essay: Symbolism Symbolism, self-explanatory, something serving as a symbol. In the short story, Young Goodman Brown, symbolism is shown by the wife’s name, Faith, and the pink bow that Faith wears in her hair, and the snake staff. These three things have odd ways of being symbolic but this essay is going to break it down. First, Goodman Browns wife's name, Faith, is symbolic.
