Have you ever seen racism, bullies, religion prejudice, or someone not being able to stand up for what they believe in? If so, you just saw the struggle that Muhammad Ali faced and overcame. Defining himself as a black muslim, Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali and faced much hatred in the field of sports. How he overcame those challenges makes Ali the most valuable person in history. Muhammad Ali was the first professional athlete to openly speak out and follow his beliefs no matter the cost. With him being a black muslim there was much hatred toward him. However, he used his talent of boxing to speak out about what he believed in. His religion formed his opinion on the Vietnam War and when he was drafted, Ali refused to go fight. This banned him from 3 years of boxing and his titles were taken from him. He has done missions in Liberia, Cuba, Vietnam, and Afghanistan. In these missions, Ali provided medicine, medical care, and support. Muhammad Ali has won many awards, some including the Arthur Ash Courage Award, the BAMBI Award, the BET Humanitarian, Liberty Medal, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. These are just a few of Muhammad Ali’s many accomplishments. Unfortunately, Ali also had Parkinson’s. However, he did not let this stop him and he raised money for Parkinson’s research and even plead to the government to involve the government with research for a cure.
