Europe was thought to be in a strong position, but at the end of 1918 the position was reduced.

The increase in militarism across Europe aided in the tensions between countries and brought about new advancements in military technology. I’ll be discussing three main reasons that contributed the outbreak of World War 1. Nationalism contributed the most to the outbreak of World War 1 because this all started with the fact that the Austrian-Hungary couldn’t handle the fact that Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz and his wife Sofia.

As their allies got involved this conflict grew into World War I (WWI). This event wasn’t the real cause of the war, it was just the spark that started it. Most people would say the causes were imperialism, nationalism, alliances and militarism.

However a number of factors contributed to the rivalry between the Great powers that allowed war to break out. Main causes for World War I were Militarism, Imperialism, and Nationalism. These three main causes were just the starters, but the Archduke’s assassination made Austria-Hungary declare war. Eventually, fear and competition in the arms race led to various military alliances, which contributed greatly to the start of World War I. First of all, Militarism was similar to today’s arm’s race.
