In the book, Flags of our Fathers, written by James Bradley, Bradley writes with pride about his father and the five other men who raised the American Flag on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. Throughout the book, Bradley utilizes rhetorical questions, stories, interviews, and letters to create a more personal feeling to the book. Also, this builds ethos, making his book credible due to his sources. He creates a dramatic tone by employing short sentence structure and repetition throughout. Furthermore, Bradley also indicates strong feelings towards two major themes of the book, which are pride in his country and a contempt for the media during wartime.
According to the Michael Kolkind in the essay History 489 at Berkeley the conflict over people’s park took place. According to the author it was a small space took by the local activist from the university of Berkley which failed to improve it after “demolish some houses”(5). According to the author they created a space that would bring more people to join their causes. The author describes this action the “beginning of the end of the student movement”. For the extremist activists it was a military battle against the citizen that they were supposed to defend.
Starting off his short term as president, James K. The acquisition of Mexico was concerning because it surfaced the debate over the balance of power and slavery between the North and the South. Along with Polk’s decision, Democrats agreed in expanding territory because of their strong following of the Democratic doctrine, the Manifest Destiny, by expanding the nation’s territory through any means.

Live to Achieve Your Goals Survival should always be the primary goal. Elie Wiesel in the book "Night" lived to achieve his goals. Although some people might think that survival should not always be the primary goal, it isn't true because surviving is the main one in the long run, we think about how we will live if we achieve some kind of goal. And also survival isn't only keeping yourself alive it's also the things that keep you going and motivate you to live, meaning its the primary goal in life. Some people may think that survival isn’t a goal, it is an instinct.

My life quickly became a cruel example of this fundamental concept. I had finally figured out what I wanted to do, and I was on a mission to get there. I ramped up the number of units I was taking. I was working three jobs and going to school full time. I was unstoppable.

To me, this quote means that you have to think and plan for greatness but realize that the journey to get to where you’re going may be longer than you realize and that you may encounter challenges but should always keep your eye on what you want. The quote is Roosevelt saying to look to the future and have a vision for what you want but also to keep yourself grounded and be realistic in your approach to how you want to go about accomplishing it.
