For this week's readings, I decided that the best Time Capsule Item would be the videogame Battlefield. Battlefield is a well-known first-person shooter video game franchise. The games are renowned for their realistic graphics, destructible settings, and massive multiplayer combat. In order to fight on multiple terrain and game modes, players can select from a variety of classes and vehicles. Battlefield is known for its intense battles, immersive environments, and focus on coordination among players to achieve victory on the battlefield. But what should always be considered when looking at the effects of any video game is how factors such as age, personality traits, and prior exposure to media influence how individuals respond to different types of video game content. So whether a game like Battlefield makes individuals more aggressive, hostile behavior, desensitization and attention or whether it creates better communication skills, empathy, critical thinking skills, it all depends on outside factors that affect each individual. My Brain on screen paper relates to this time capsule in the sense that based on my own personal factors such as my personal traits, age, the generation I was born into, and my exposure to video games, I personally never got into them. I have played video games here and there, but personally I never got too attached in the sense that I never really got upset over losing or not being able to properly play. I would also include my opinion on video games: Video games should be played in moderation and with limits. Prioritizing other pursuits over gaming, such as working out, interacting with loved ones, and attending to obligations, is crucial. Furthermore, minimizing any possible harmful impacts can be achieved by paying attention to the substance of the games being played. Selecting non-violent, age-appropriate games helps lessen the likelihood of negative influences. It's critical to monitor how much time is spent playing video games and make sure that it doesn't conflict with obligations or other everyday activities. In conclusion, one can prevent being adversely influenced by video games by getting media literate, exercising moderation, selecting acceptable game content, and asking for help when needed.
