The Outsiders is a story about a young adult named Dallas Winston. The story takes place in the 1960s in Oklahoma. It is about a tragedy that affected Dallas Winston in unexpected ways. One way that Dallas was affected by a tragedy was by the sudden loss of his friend Johnny. The loss of his friend devastated him so much that he committed suicide.
Don’t you think it’s about time people start thinking of each other as equals? An outsider is a person who doesn’t correspond to a particular group or is overpowered by people of higher estate. Outsiders are constantly alienated because they are abused by the people with authority, leaving them with no voice in decision making, this sensation is seen in the French Revolution, Industrial Revolution,The Metamorphosis, and Fences. During the French Revolution and Industrial Revolution young children and adults went through rough times, whether they had very little money or were starving because of how poor they were.

Hinton we learn about the rival groups the Greasers and the Socs. During the book we see that not all of the members of said groups are full of hate and malice for the opposing sides.
An outcast is a term typically used to describe a person that isn't widely accepted by normal members of society. In the story The Catcher in the Rye, main character Holden Caulfield struggles with being a normal, functioning member of society. In fact, he often rejects being one by his own device. Holden rejects many social norms, including things like trying not to mature, not adapting to any social situation and watching other people doing things while he doesn't, and just his overall awkward nature. He does most definitely not succeed in his rebellion towards society.
Outsiders are used in novels to demonstrate a different perspective of a character where it is how other characters in the novel are perceived and not how the characters see themselves. It can also be used as a satirical tool to demonstrate the flaws within society. It can also be argued that society is to blame for the marginalisation of its people. Some of the characters in the Great Gatsby and the Reluctant Fundamentalist are portrayed as outsiders. It is evident in the way characters treat each other.
For example, Benjamin Franklin had odd and unique habits that others did not, like sitting in a cold room without clothes. Some might think of him as an outsider but it didn’t isolate him or make him different from the others. Franklin also wore different clothes than others but it didn’t make him an outcast as it was just his way of expressing his life and feelings. Similarly to Benjamin Franklin, Encountering the Other doesn’t necessarily make the others outsiders because being an “other” doesn’t mean you're an outsider because being an outsider means being different from society, while another just differs from another ethnic or cultural group.

The narrator is now convince that he is truly an invisible man, he feels isolated because no understands him leaving him alone with no friends, family or even colleagues. After through all of the terrible things that has happen he finally realizes that he has brought isolation to himself. He even states “I’m an invisible man and it placed me in a hole-or showed me the hole I was in, if you will-and I reluctantly accepted the fact” (Ellison 573-574).
It’s Not Universal Humans are social beings and, typically, we prefer to surround ourselves with similar types of people. Often times, this means excluding others and even outcasting them from society. Nearly everybody has experienced being an outsider. whether it was not knowing anyone at a new school to not having the “must have” item that everyone else seemingly had. The experience of being an outsider is not universal because the feelings associated with being outcast are circumstantial, people react differently, and people have varying degrees of introversion.
As a kid you don’t want to be an Outsider. As a kid you want to be in the most popular group. For me as a kid I wanted to be in the most popular group at school like most people. They then became my friends everything was good for I was an Insider. I watched as Outsiders walked around me started and things began to change.
