One thing I need to keep in mind is some concepts that define my leadership style. DeCotiis discusses five dimensions of leading as an authentic leader in his article including self-leadership, business-leadership, results-leadership, vision-leadership, and people-leadership. Self-leadership is being disciplined, consistent, predictable, and mature, performing well under stress, and controlling one’s emotions (DeCotiis). Business-leadership is understanding where your company’s money comes from and how to execute the most successful strategies to maximize guest experience (DeCotiis). Results-leadership which is distinguishing the cause of problems and targeting that instead of the symptoms and vision-leadership which is giving your organization a vision of a successful future (DeCotiis). Last, is people-leadership which is one that I should focus the most of my energy on since I need the most development in this area and this focuses on earning trust and molding your team by utilizing people’s emotions (DeCotiis). This forms of leadership will help me naturally develop my team. Developing my listening skills and responding skills will also help refine this leadership aspect. Positivity comes naturally to me and I need to utilize it more than I do. This could easily become my greatest strength if I utilized it more.
