As a child growing up, our parents taught us many fictional characters and myths. For example, Santa Calsus, the Easter Bunny, and the myth behind the tooth fairy. Theses thoughts or “tales” are placed in our head so as children, we have the idea of a perfect happy world. In elementary school, I was taught that thanksgiving was simply a time to stuff your face with turkey. As a grew a bit older thanksgiving was expounded and I learned that the first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in Plymouth by Pilgrims and Native Americans, and this information was still incorrect.
First Thanksgiving One myth I chose was The Wampanoag brought popcorn to the first Thanksgiving feast. Wampanoag had eating popcorn but they had eating other things to but popcorn wasn’t the first. They also ate cranberry sauce. Also they ate bread, meat pies, and boiled pumpkins.
Why is thanksgiving so important to me? Well, I personally think that Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday. The reason Thanksgiving is so important to me is because, I love when family comes over to our house and can sit down, and catch up with one another. My biggest reason Thanksgiving is so important to me is because my family coms over.
My Family Thanksgiving Imagine you and your family all having a good time, enjoying yourself, and watching T.V. And that’s some of what I did at Thanksgiving. My family are very important to me because, they make other people laugh and do nice things. My Aunt Joann likes to make jokes, makes people laugh a lot, and makes great sweet potato pie.
One thing I am thankful for had to be my concussion, sounds strange right? Well we all have our stories but mine started during my freshman year basketball game. Going into the game, I thought we were walking out with an easy win because we played this team before and won. First lesson, don’t ever be cocky in a sport because it will bite you back. Of course, my team decided we were not going to take the game too serious since we won before and karma caught up with us really fast.
Martha looked at the myth of Thanksgiving. The idea that an entire family would happily get together for a huge meal. The family will think and talk about everything that they are thankful for. This is heavily discussed in elementary schools. As a child I remember my teacher suggesting that at dinner we should go around the table and have each family member say something that they are thankful for.
My Catholic education means so much to me, because if I did not have it I would not be the person I am today. I am so glad that I have the ability to attend a Catholic school, and also attend mass each week. Not everyone has the opportunity to attend a Catholic school and learn many things like I do. Without my Catholic education I would not be able to attend school mass each week with my friends, have religion class and learn about my faith everyday, and most importantly, I would not be able to talk about my faith and God freely in religion class or with my friends. Being able to attend mass each week is just one of the things that I am thankful for.
Thanksgiving dinners with my family have always been particularly hectic. Rather than meet solely with my father or my mother’s side of the family, we fuse together as one family to give thanks for what we have. Despite the different backgrounds of these two families, we generally get along. However, about halfway through dinner, someone will give their opinion on a polarizing topic such as politics or economics and words will start to fly like a verbal food fight, and the differences. The instigator on most occasions?
I know that if I am every in a tough situation or I don’t know how to handle a problem, I can always come to my parents for advice to help me figure out what to do. I also know that my brothers will always be there for me if I ever need someone to talk to. My family always has my back in the toughest of times and I am beyond grateful for that. This makes me feel as if I never have to handle a tough situation alone. I am also very grateful that I have good friends that I can confide in and talk to about anything.
I have been here for couple of years and a standout amongst the most exceptional and huge day for me has been Thanksgiving day. This day of the year when all the relatives from entire nation meet to cherish the day of Thanksgiving. In my opinion, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year is synonymous with the word bliss. During those two quick months, I am such a blithe form of Brandon. Any of the other months, I tend to be very monotone. Thankfully, this amazing time of the year tends to buoy my spirits, giving me motivation to finish the school year.
