My actions of creating friendly relationships while teaching will inspire future instructor to follow my path one day.
The personal philosophy that my experiences have helped shaped has become my foundation of which I can always rely on. As previously discussed, there are many aspects that make up a leadership philosophy. My leadership philosophy builds on integrity, humility, trustworthiness, and accountability. Integrity comes from within and can be used as a tool to guide others. McRaven in his book elaborates that we should, “never lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do and the culture of your organization starts with you.”
1. Introduction. My personal leadership philosophy is based on qualities I have observed throughout my career exhibited by the leaders who earned my utmost respect. They have been the most effective leaders at creating a positive command climate. The factors I believe that tie into their success are that they are compassionate, approachable, and professional.
When giving an leadership philosophy, it is important that one implement these given characteristics into their life. While illustrating this manner, a leader must also act as a motivator and disciplinarian, especially when leading teachers. Through its contrasting definitions and beliefs, a leadership philosophy will always illustrate a worldview of leadership, include leadership practices, build on leadership relationships, and include a diversity as to how you would assort your leadership skills and most importantly, an assessment of an effective
Over my twenty-year career, the core aspects of my leadership philosophy have been constant while other parts evolved with me, as I changed jobs and responsibilities and while I matured and gained new perspectives. Mahatma Gandhi said it best, “You have to be the change that you want to see in the world.” In keeping with the military’s practice of conducting after action reviews after military exercises, I hope my written leadership philosophy will become a contract to keep me in check and ensure I “walked the talk.”
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
As leaders, it is important to communicate our priorities and values so that every Soldier knows what is expected. Reading and absorbing this philosophy will give you a solid ground for what is expected from you and what you can expect from me. Rely on the Army values to help you make good decisions. Having integrity means you do what is right even when no one else is around.
He does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the equality of his actions and the integrity of his intent" (McCarther 2015). A leader should lead from the front and also have the ability to think quickly on their feet and take care of their Soldiers. Have faith and trust that the leadership is doing their best to keep everything in
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.
Leaders are made, not born. The Great Man Theory suggests that people inherit qualities and traits that make them better suited for leadership. “To suggest that leaders do not enter the world with extraordinary endowment is to imply that people enter the world with equal abilities, with equal talents.” (Thomas Carlyle 1840) While it is true that there are certain characteristics that leaders are born with that predispose them to become leaders, the influence of these characteristics are often overexaggerated.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
The first step to creating this favorable environment, in my opinion, would be, to begin with, an "open-door policy." A leader can invite his soldiers to voice their views at any time and bring about any concerns that they may have while feeling completely comfortable to do so. A feeling of comradery within a team and a balance of powers, instead of overuse of harshness will ultimately lead to a better outcome in subordinate performance. Lastly, an essential step towards proper leadership deals with achievement. Achieving deals with the accomplishment of the goals in which the army has laid out, or that the individual sets for himself.

My leadership philosophy is one driven by emotion. I want to be the leader that makes people feel. I want them to feel as though we are all part of a family and that they are cared about. I want to show them that I not only care about our job at hand but care about them personally; where their physical and mental health is always as important as reaching any goal.
